Here’s the buzz on the hottest new cocktail and dessert spot in Charleston: The Honey Hive. From the front door to the back bar, the space is awash in style from the gold and red banquettes to the super sleek light fixtures - don’t miss the feather-covered chandelier in the glass-walled private room. But the real stars of this woman-owned establishment are the cocktails and desserts. The enticing drinks on the cocktail list are all named after famous women, from Zelda Fitzgerald to Elizabeth Taylor. I loved the honey and whiskey in the Eartha Kitt, but don’t overlook The Madame, which has both alcohol and coffee to give you a boozy buzz! You won’t bee-lieve the dessert menu, with each menu item more unique and scrumptious-sounding than the next. And they don’t just sound delicious - the presentation is stunning and the taste is even better. My favorites so far were the caramel tart and the strawberry shortcake (so delicious!) But you better bee-lieve I’ll be back to try them all. A few things to remember: you’ll want to make a bee-line to the cocktail and dessert menus, but don’t forget that Honey Hive also has a Sunday brunch. If you’re more of a night owl, when the clock strikes midnight don’t let that one tired friend be a buzz-kill, because Thursdays through Saturdays the Hive is open til 2am! So put on your best yellow jacket and head down to 563 Sting Street… (I mean King Street) to the Honey Hive.
